About me

The person behind bae.hr.

Over ten years in IT, one principle: build systems that never wake anyone at night.

From server room to platform.

My first servers went online when I was a teenager: services, websites and hosting for friends and acquaintances. What began as curiosity became craft, and craft became a standard.

The hobby turned into a profession: an apprenticeship and several years at a web hoster, where reliable operations aren't a nice-to-have but the product itself. After that, as a systems engineer, came larger environments, more automation and more responsibility.

Today I build platforms that make deployments boring. Boring in the best sense: reproducible, monitored, documented. What has stayed is the joy of simplifying complex systems until they almost run themselves.

  • Pragmatic solutions instead of a tool zoo
  • Automation with good judgment, documented and ready for handover
  • Clear communication in German or English
  • Honest estimates and reliable availability

Milestones

First servers

Production out of enthusiasm

Services, websites and hosting for friends, run on my own servers. The first systems I was on call for at night.

Web host years

Operations as the product

Apprenticeship and years in hosting operations: Linux, networks, mail and DNS at volume. Systems that simply have to run, around the clock.

Systems engineer

Automation with responsibility

Larger environments, deeper automation: infrastructure as code, deployments without heroics. Systems that teams rely on every day.

Today

DevOps, end to end

Independent: architecture, build and operations from one engineer. Plus eight products of my own, from first idea to running operation.

You can tell good infrastructure by the fact that nobody has to talk about it.

Tell me about your project.
